About Gauge Block History:
The gauge block was invented in 1896 by Swedish mechanician Karl Edward Johanson. These are used as a standard for calibrating the measuring equipment used in machine factories such as micrometers, sign bars, noggis, and micrometer (for inspection). Gauge blocks are the main way to standardize the length used in the industry.

Tips for Use:
To use them, remove the blocks from the set, remove the protective coating (vaseline or oil), and tighten with screws to form the desired size stack. Blocks are precisely calibrated at 20°C (68°F) and should be kept at this temperature during measurement. This reduces the effect of thermal expansion. Abrasion resistant blocks made of tougher substances such as tungsten carbide, are attached to the end of the stack as much as possible to protect the gauge block from damage during use.
